Photovoltaic Integrated Insulating Glass 6+12A+6, also called BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) Insulated Glass, is a multi-functional building envelope material that combines solar power generation, thermal insulation, sound insulation and decorative facade performance into one single unit.
This glass adopts the classic 6+12A+6 double glazing construction: two pieces of 6mm fully tempered photovoltaic glass, with a 12-millimeter air cavity (12A) sealed between them. Solar cell strips are embedded inside the insulated glass unit. When sunlight shines on the panel, the photovoltaic cells capture solar energy and convert it into usable direct current electricity for building consumption.
Different from conventional solar panels that need extra mounting brackets, our BIPV insulating glass can directly replace traditional window glass, curtain wall panels and skylight glazing. The sealed 12A air gap effectively blocks heat transfer, reduces cooling and heating loads of buildings, lowers carbon emissions and energy bills. Meanwhile, the hollow structure delivers excellent acoustic insulation to cut off outdoor noise.
All glass substrates are tempered for safety. Once broken, the glass will crumble into small obtuse particles instead of sharp shards, greatly reducing injury risks. We support customized cell patterns and spacing to adjust light transmittance freely, balancing daylighting effect and power generation efficiency.
It is widely applied in commercial building facades, curtain walls, skylights, sunrooms, green buildings, passive houses and zero-carbon construction projects. Our BIPV glass helps property owners achieve renewable energy goals while maintaining elegant architectural aesthetics.
