Wuhan Metro Line 3 Central Business District Dome——Bright galaxy

Situated in the heart of Wuhan Wangjiadun Central Business District, this major interchange station for Wuhan Metro Line 3 and Line 7 has been named one of Asia’s most beautiful metro stations. It is also a renowned internet-famous urban landmark promoted overseas by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Designed under the theme of "Bright Star River", our team was responsible for the customized processing of glass panels for the huge daylighting dome as well as the supporting steel structure installation. The dome spans 23 meters in diameter and stands 14 meters tall, assembled from 954 pieces of triple-layer insulated laminated coated tempered glass with a total glass area of 650 square meters. Adopting a six-gradient blue-purple color scheme, it delivers a visual effect reminiscent of a blooming lotus. Natural light filters through to create gorgeous light and shadow effects during the day, while intelligent orbit LED lights recreate the dreamy scenery of a vast star river after dark.

As one of China’s first benchmark projects featuring large daylighting domes in metro systems, this project transforms an underground transit space into a public urban art gallery through our sophisticated glass engineering solutions. Having been covered by CCTV and mainstream overseas media on numerous occasions, it serves as an exemplary classic case for glass art projects in urban public spaces.
